Wanderung zur Teufelsmühle
Wir starten in Bad Herrenalb und wandern vorbei an den Teufelskammern hoch zur Teufelsmühle, wo wir hoffentlich mit einer schönen Aussicht belohnt werden. Von dort aus geht es weiter in Richtung Gernsbach, von wo wir dann wieder zurück nach Karlsruhe fahren werden. Die Tour wird rund 14 km lang sein mit 550 Höhenmeter.
Festes Schuhwerk und wetterfeste Kleidung sind natürlich Pflicht!
Hike to Teufelsmühle
We will start in Bad Herrenalb and hike past the Teufelskammern up to the Teufelsmühle, where we hope to be rewarded with a beautiful view. From there, we will continue towards Gernsbach, from where we will travel back to Karlsruhe. The hike will be approximately 14 km long with about 550 meters of elevation gain.
Sturdy footwear and weatherproof clothing are mandatory.
Wanderung von Gaggenau nach Baden Baden
Die Wanderung startet in Gaggenau, das im nördlichen Schwarzwald liegt und von Karlsruhe in unter einer Stunde erreichbar ist. Entlang einer Etappe des Badischen Jakobsweges wandern wir bis nach Baden-Baden. Dort gibt es die Möglichkeit noch einen kleinen Rundgang durch die schöne Altstadt zu machen. Die Wanderung wird etwa 14 km lang sein und umfasst 320 Höhenmeter.
Festes Schuhwerk und wetterfeste Kleidung sind natürlich Pflicht!
Hike from Gaggenau to Baden Baden
The hike starts in Gaggenau, which is located in the northern Black Forest and can be reached from Karlsruhe in under an hour. We will follow a section of the Baden Way of St. James to Baden-Baden, where there will be the opportunity to take a short walk through the beautiful old town. The hike will be approximately 14 kilometers long with an elevation gain of around 320 meters.

Führung im Regionalbüro des DWD in Stuttgart
Die Führung beinhaltet einen Gang über das Messfeld, einen Vortrag über die Aufgaben des DWD (im Speziellen die Aufgaben am Standort Stuttgart) und einen Gang durch das Großraumbüro. Dem Herzstück der Wetterberatung und Schnittstelle zur Bevölkerung und zum Katastrophenschutz.
Guided tour at the DWD regional office in Stuttgart
The tour includes a walk across the measurement field, a presentation on the tasks of the German Weather Service (with a particular focus on the responsibilities at the Stuttgart site), and a walk through the open-plan office, the heart of weather advisory services and the interface with the public and civil protection authorities.
Technikmuseum Speyer
Die Exkursion führt uns nach Speyer und wird mit einem Besuch des Technik Museums Speyer verbunden. Das Museum bietet: begehbare U-Boote sowie Flugzeuge mit einem originalem Jumbo-Jet, Ausstellungen zur Raumfahrt und Marine sowie eine Vielzahl von Oldtimern und anderen historischen Fahrzeugen.
Speyer Museum of Technology
We will visit the city Speyer which includes a visit to the Speyer Museum of Technology. The museum offers: walk-in submarines and aircrafts, including an original jumbo jet, exhibitions on space travel and the navy and a large number of vintage cars and other historic vehicles.
Hochseilgarten Turmberg
Wir werden in Karlsruhe den Hochseilgarten auf dem Turmberg besuchen.
Auf 12 verschiedenen Parcours kann man durch die Bäume klettern und hat gleichzeitig einen tollen Ausblick über Karlsruhe. Für die Exkursion sind Schwindelfreiheit, festes Schuhwerk sowie eine eigene Kopfbedeckung (z.B. Buff) erforderlich, die aus hygienischen Gründen unter dem Leihhelm getragen werden muss. (Alternativ für 4€ vor Ort erhältlich.)
High rope climbing at Turmberg
We will visit the high rope tree-top climbing on Turmberg hill
which offers a view over Karlsruhe. With 12 different courses, you can climb through the trees, but you shouldn’t be afraid of heights and wear sturdy shoes. A head covering (e.g. buff) is obligatory for hygiene reasons and must be worn under the rental helmet. (Alternatively available on site for 4 €.)
Botanischer Garten und Kul-TOUR
Vom Schlafplatz aus laufen wir entspannt zum botanischen Garten und werden anschließend eine Lunchpause im wunderschönen Schlossgarten machen. Danach fahren wir auf 14 Uhr in das Zentrum für Kunst und Medien, wo wir eine einstündige Führung über Kunstwerke aus Mittelalter bis Moderne genießen. Danach können diverse Ausstellungen angeschaut werden (Unter anderem ein elektronischer Streichelzoo!!).
Botanical Garden and Cultural Tour
From our dorms, we will take a walk to the botanical garden and then stop for lunch in the beautiful castle gardens. Afterwards, we will head to the Center for Art and Media at 2 p.m., where we will enjoy a one-hour guided tour of artworks from the Middle Ages to the modern era. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to view various exhibitions (including an electronic petting zoo!!).
Flammkuchenessen in Straßburg
Straßburg liegt im Elsass in Frankreich direkt an der Grenze zu Deutschland, weshalb sich ein Tagesausflug mit etwa 1:30 Stunden Anfahrt besonders lohnt. Vor Ort erwartet euch ein Stadtrundgang mit bekannten Sehenswürdigkeiten wie dem Viertel La Petite France, dem Europaviertel, dem Parc de l’Orangerie und vielem mehr. So richtig lernt man das Elsass jedoch erst kennen, wenn man den ersten Flammkuchen probiert hat und sich anschließend durch weitere französischen Spezialitäten kostet. Um genügend Zeit für all diese kulturellen und kulinarischen Highlights zu haben, startet diese Exkursion bereits um kurz vor acht.
Tarte flambée tasting in Strasbourg
Strasbourg is located in the Alsace region of France, right on the border with Germany, making it an ideal destination for a day trip with a travel time of around 1.5 hours. Once there, you can look forward to a city tour featuring well-known sights such as La Petite France, the European Quarter, the Parc de l’Orangerie, and much more. However, you truly get to know Alsace only after tasting your first tarte flambée and then sampling a variety of other French specialties. To ensure there is enough time for all the cultural and culinary highlights, the excursion starts shortly before 8 a.m.
Stadtführung an Klimaorte
Eine etwa dreistündige Stadtführung zu Fuß bringt dich zu ausgewählten klimabezogenen Orten in ganz Karlsruhe. Geplante Stationen sind unter anderem der Botanische Garten des KIT, die Volksbank Karlsruhe, ein 2008 fertiggestelltes Nullenergiegebäude mit einer Fassade aus Solarpaneelen, das Naturkundemuseum sowie eine Messstation der Landesanstalt für Umwelt (LUBW). An jeder Station gibt eine Mitarbeiterin oder ein Mitarbeiter eine 30-minütige Einführung in das jeweilige Thema im Kontext des Klimas.
Treffpunkt ist der Eingang des Botanischen Gartens des KIT, und die Führung endet in der Rheinhold-Frank-Str. an der Grenze zwischen „Innenstadt“ und „Weststadt“. Von dort ist es nicht weit zum nächsten Bahnhof oder ein 25-minütiger Spaziergang zurück zum Campus Süd.
Die Vorträge werden nach Möglichkeit auf Englisch gehalten, dies kann jedoch nicht garantiert werden.
Walking tour through the city to climate-related locations
A roughly three-hour walking tour will take you to selected climate-related locations throughout Karlsruhe. Planned stops include the KIT Botanical Garden, Volksbank Karlsruhe, a zero-energy building completed in 2008 with a façade made of solar panels, the Natural History Museum, and a measuring station of the State Agency for the Environment (LUBW). At each stop, a staff member will give a 30-minute introduction to the respective topic in the context of climate.
The meeting point is the entrance to the KIT Botanical Garden, and the tour ends at Rheinhold-Frank-Str. on the border between „Innenstadt“ and „Weststadt“. From there, it is not far to the nearest train station or a 25-minute walk back to Campus South.
The presentations will be held in English as far as possible, but this cannot be guaranteed.
Paddeln in Heidelberg
Diese Exkursion führt uns nach Heidelberg. Dort werden wir Paddelbasics lernen und Heidelberg ein wenig vom Wasser aus erkunden.
Diese Exkursion kann man machen, wenn man noch nie gepaddelt hat, aber natürlich auch wenn man schon erfahrener ist. Bitte Handtuch und Badesachen einpacken und wenn möglich FlipFlops/Crocs.
Paddling in Heidelberg
This excursion takes us to Heidelberg. There we will learn the basics of paddling and explore Heidelberg a little from the water.
This excursion is suitable for those who have never paddled before, but of course also for those who are more experienced. Please pack a towel and swimwear and, if possible, flip-flops/Crocs.
Fahrradtour zum Rhein
Auf der Radtour geht es zunächst entlang der Alb raus aus Karlsruhe. Dabei kommen wir auch am Rheinhafen und an der großen Mineralölraffinerie vorbei. Danach fahren wir durch die Altrheinarme und an einem von vielen Karlsruher Baggerseen entlang. Bei gutem Wetter legen wir gerne auch einen kurzen Badestopp ein. Durch den Hardtwald geht es dann wieder zurück nach Karlsruhe.
Insgesamt werden es rund 38 km, aber alles schön flach in der Rheinebene.
Bike tour to the Rhine
The bike tour first follows the river Alb out of Karlsruhe. Along the way, we will pass the Rhine harbor and the large mineral oil refinery. We then continue through former branches of the Rhine and ride alongside one of the many gravel pit lakes around Karlsruhe. In good weather conditions, we may include a short swimming stop. Finally, we return to Karlsruhe through the Hardtwald forest.
In total, the route covers approximately 38 km, but it is entirely flat across the Upper Rhine Plain.
Kloster Maulbronn
Wir besuchen das Kloster Maulbronn. Das Kloster Maulbronn gilt als die am besten erhaltene Klosteranlage des Mittelalters nördlich der Alpen. Hier sind alle Stilrichtungen und Entwicklungsstufen von der Romanik bis zur Spätgotik in einer einzigartigen atmosphärischen Dichte vertreten. Das Kloster ist ein UNESCO Welterbe. Teil unseres Besuchs ist eine Führung.
Maulbronn Monastery
We will visit the Maulbronn Monastery (Kloster Maulbronn), which is one of Europe’s best preserved Medieval monastery complexes. Combining a multitude of architectural styles ranging from Romanesque to late Gothic all in one place – it creates a unique atmosphere. The monastery is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our visit includes a guided tour.
Besuch des Naturkundesmuseums
Wir besuchen das Naturkundemuseum in Karlsruhe. Auf mehreren Stockwerken gibt es dort Ausstellungen über Themen wie beispielsweise Zoologie, Geologie, Archäologie oder die Evolution des Menschen. Mit seinem speziellen Fokus auf Naturhistorie zählt das Naturkundemuseum Karlsruhe zu den wichtigsten Naturkundemuseen Deutschland.
Wir können uns im Museum frei bewegen und selbst das Museum für uns entdecken.
Visit to the Natural History Museum
We visit the Natural History Museum in Karlsruhe. Spread over several floors, there are exhibitions on topics such as zoology, geology, archaeology and human evolution. With its special focus on natural history, the Natural History Museum in Karlsruhe is one of the most important natural history museums in Germany.
We are free to move around the museum and discover it for ourselves.
